Di cosa parla Run with the Wind?
La storia narra degli eventi attorno Tokyo-Hakone Round-Trip College Ekiden Rake o semplicemente "l'Hakone Ekiden”, una delle più importanti maratone a staffetta universitarie del Giappone. La gara si tiene ogni anno il 2-3 gennaio, i partecipanti devono percorrere Tokyo-Hakone andata e ritorno per un totale di 271.9 km. Haiji Kiyose, all'ultimo anno di studi universitari, è in cerca del "decimo uomo", il decimo coinquilino che completi lo studentato in cui vive, ma anche il decimo uomo che gli faccia mantenere una promessa stretta per la realizzazione di un progetto a cui tiene molto... Una sera incrocia Kakeru Kurahara, lui corre veloce come il vento, Haiji ne rimane folgorato e decide che sarà lui il decimo; così lo trascina a conoscere gli altri otto coinquilini, nonché la mascotte di casa, il cane Nira.

Kakeru eventually appears at the relay station, running at shocking speeds. Their dream lies before them. Kakeru passes to Haiji. Their sash unites them and their entire team. At what peak will the Kansei University track and field team arrive?
